This week, Maddy interviews Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky, an expert in presidential history. Lindsay shares her story of how she was all set to go to law school and a single application question that she couldn’t answer made her realize her passions lie elsewhere. Today, Lindsay speaks and writes regularly, appearing often on live television such as CNN or ABC News, being featured in articles for The New York Times, writing her monthly column in Washington Monthly, and being interviewed on numerous podcasts. On this episode, Lindsay shares her story, an inside look into writing her book, a bit about her dog John Quincy Dog Adams, and how she, a presidential expert, reacted to the musical Hamilton. Happy listening!

Maddy’s Note: “This episode was a dream! As I started my journey of season 4 of this podcast, my goal was to be able to interview people outside my social circle to gain experience and expand this podcast. This episode is a beautiful representation of that! Lindsay was such a fun guest for me to have on for three reasons: 1. It was fun to prepare for because I didn’t know a lot about her before I asked her to be a guest. So prepping the questions, watching some of her media and reading some of her content to prepare was a really good experience for me to grow my skills of actually producing a podcast. 2. Lindsay’s profession is something that I don’t know a lot about and I’m guessing most people don’t know about, which always adds a fun element to getting to listen and then slap my name on it in form of an episode as my podcast. It makes me feel proud of my show to get to have a platform to hold these stories. Lastly, 3. Lindsay was SO kind and sweet to me, which just rounded out the whole experience. All that to say, (& keep in mind, each of my episodes are special in their own way) this one was extra special because it feels like a projection forward in my podcast journey!“
