A side project that becomes a full-time job is a dream for a lot of people, which makes this week’s episode a special one. Maddy hops on zoom for a conversation with Conor Sweetman, founder and editor-in-chief of Ekstasis Magazine. The magazine started as a side-project for many years, until it got noticed and acquired by Christianity Today, a hallmark of Christian media. Conor shares his story, which is jam packed with stories on how he grew his love for art, what Ekstasis can mean for everyone, a cool story about the Mona Lisa, and so much more. Happy listening!

Maddy’s Note: “I had a great opportunity to get to know a bit of Conor’s story a couple months back after Conor so graciously responded to a random LinkedIn message from me. It was super fun to hear Conor’s story of how a side-hobby / passion project became his full-time job and it was very inspiring to me, especially because I have my own side-hobby / passion project (this very podcast). Conor’s love for art and the way in which he chose to pursue it is something to admire. Ekstasis Magazine is a collection of worship, a different lens in which to view the beauty of creation and an escape, all in one. In its own words, it is “a kind of digital cathedral, a sanctuary from the noise, a place that captures our attention through loving art and luminous words.” I’m thankful for this kind of work and incredibly honored to get to draw people’s attention to it, things like this don’t come from the surface, but deep within. This episode holds an incredible story but also a higher calling for us to pursue deeply what we are called to and passionate about.”
